The Art of the Brick

Went to the ArtScience Museum for
a sculpture exhibition (if I may call it that)
using LEGO® bricks as the sole medium.

Entrance to the Art of the Brick photo P1080700.jpg
Can you find me at the entrance to the exhibition?
Thought this would be nice if it were made of real Lego bricks too.

No idea photo P1080704.jpg
"there is no idea that cannot be expressed with LEGO, " said Nathan Sawaya, the artist.

Reckon we shall just let pictures do the talking and see if you get some of the ideas. ha.

Use of shadow to outline figures that you can creature with lego.

Mummy thought the only LEGO in this room are the things on the table top and probably the painting. but NO!
The entire room, including the tiles, drawers, even the easel, is made of Lego bricks!

2D photo P1080717.jpg
how bout a 2D photo of myself made of Lego bricks?

rest photo P1080707.jpg
these are just some of the many pieces in this exhibition.
Me tired and was glad to find a seat halfway thru' it.
Thought it'd be fun if the armchair is made of Lego too. but maybe it won't be comfortable then. ha.

door photo P1080728.jpg
Life-sized Lego sculptures are everywhere here.
So much so that when we open this door to "The Emotion Box" which was dark on the other side,
Mummy saw some figures and took care not to knock into them, thinking they were Lego too.
Actually they were just real people standing there.
ha. silly mummy.

sculptures in this emtion box are quite graphic...

One of my favourite exhibit:
(Almost) Life-sized T-Rex!

sketchbook photo P1080724.jpg
Mummy's take-away from this exhibition:
"I carry a little sketchpad, wherever I go. I'm forever jotting down ideas."
A remind for Mummy to keep a sketchpad in our outing bag like she used to do when I was younger.

play area photo P1080735.jpg
Don't forget to save some time for the activities area at the end of the exhibition!
It looks really fun but we didn't have much time for it cos we went near the closing hour.

Head down to The ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands before the exhibition is gone.
