Mummy always thought Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, better known as 晚晴园 (wan qing yuan), was just a place Dr Sun Yat Sen 孙逸仙 aka 孫中山 had stayed before in Singapore.
but little does she know what it actually served as a base for revolutionary activities to overthrow the Qing (Manchu) dynasty.
and no, Sun Yat Sen was not a communist, he was a Christian.
