Close of a Chapter - Eager Beaver Schoolhouse

not hann but hann's Mummy said...

Still can't believe that today is Hann's last at Eager Beaver Schoolhouse - the school / childcare centre he's been with since 6 months old.

Photo: Hann (left) at 7-month-old with Teacher Beth and Baby Megan.
Teacher Deborah in the background, feeding another baby.

本以为酣会在那儿到他上小学的
真的是谋事在人,成事在天!

We were even going to send meimei there but alas...
Eager Beaver was chased out by their landlord, SAFRA,
and MCYS does not approve them to have infant care at their new premises (or so they claimed).

Since Meimei's not going to be at Eager Beaver, Hann's Papa thought it's a good chance for us to "re-align" our lives.
Eager Beaver is actually quite far from where we're staying so everyday, Hann reaches home at about 7:30 pm. By the time we settle down from dinner, it's already 8pm.
Hence, we want to put Hann and meimei at a school nearer to home.

We were really very thankful when we first found Eager Beaver.
We had actually put Hann in other infant care and it was terrible there so we had to look for another place. That was when we found Eager Beaver Schoolhouse, which is near my work place.

The infant care teachers at Eager Beaver, Beth, Deborah and Catherine, really took good care of Hann and taught him well.
In fact, I'd say Hann is so clever and independent due to them more than my hubby and I, since he spend more waking moments in school than at home.

Photo: Hann feeding himself at one-year-old.

Over at the other infant care, they don't even let the babies feed themselves at 18-month-old (this is one of the reason why I don't want to put meimei there).
While Hann is already doing such a good job feeding himself at 17 months (see video).

Photo: Hann's girlfriend, Danielle (2nd from front left)'s 3rd birthday

We are also thankful that potty-training, led by Teacher Hui Leng (2nd from top left), was painless and easy.

Perhaps it's also because Hann was there since he was a baby, he is very much loved at Eager Beaver.

while mummy is sad and worried (fear of the unknown; fear that Hann won't be loved at the new school),
Hann is all excited and eager to start at the new school.
(多希望自己能像他一样潇洒!)

so, once again, to all at Eager Beaver: thank you for loving Hann for the past 4 years.

and indeed,

"Many are the plans in a man's heart,
but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails."

70-Piece Puzzle

All photos in this post except the one with me inside (last picture) are taken by me, Hann.

I have Mickey Mouse Puzzle, Thomas the Train Puzzles...

now I've got a Doraemon Puzzle!

They're all my favourite cartoon characters.

Last Weekend, I did both my Thomas Puzzles (see box in the background), and a new Puzzle (63-Piece).
On Sunday morning, when I woke up, I asked Mummy, "got puzzle?"

So Mummy brought us back to the Marina Sq Puzzle Shop to get more puzzles.
This is one of them.

My parents were amazing that I could complete the puzzle all by myself on my 2nd attempt. and without any supervision.
1st attempt with lotsa help from Mummy. She thought it's too difficult for me.
Well.. I guess the picture on the puzzle does help.
I think this doreamon puzzle is easier than my Thomas puzzles.
Now Mummy regrets getting one instead of 2 doreamon puzzles.

Me happy!
at 2 years 2 Months, I can do 70-piece puzzle all by myself.

I read scores

12 July 2008

at my Ah Gong's house..

pardon my Rubbish Yee for her lan playing. haha. she hasn't played for a long time.

nah... I don't really know howta read scores. I just point to the notes like Teacher does in my Music class.

Now Mummy's thinking if she should continue with Seimpi or find other music classes for toddlers.

Well.. there're two schools of thoughts for introduction to music. One says you should teach Note-reading right from the start so that the kid will not reject reading notes. Another said you should teaching listening 1st else the kid will rely too much on scores.

Mummy is more for the latter, having seen how Uncle Philip can practically listen to any piece of music and play beautifully on the piano.

oh yes. I know where's the C-key on the piano now!

This is Doggie. My Ah-Gong made him for me. Lovely, eh?

Ah Gong got this Helium balloon and off Doggie goes!

See him fly!

I had lotsa fun chasing doggie around and making sure that he flies.

Have a rest, Doggie.

Ah Gong is making another "passenger" for the Helium balloon. Can you guess what is it?

It's a fish!

My Gong's always fun and so creative. I love playing with him.

Fishy, you can have a ride on doggie while waiting for your flight.

I can count!

14 July 2008
I can count from 1 to 12!

Went to buy cow's milk and when we were packing them into the "shelves", papa asked me to count how many packets are there.

I counted one to twelve.

In case you're wondering where's the twelfth...
it's in my tummy!

Mickey and Puzzles

Me working on the shape-puzzle.

There! I did this myself. It's Mickey!

Since I went to HongKong Disneyland, whenever I see 3 circles arranged this way, I'll say "Mickey".

This photo is taken by me. It's a puzzle I've been working on for about a month now.

Although it's a 50-piece puzzle, it's still challenging to me cos the shape of some pieces are "odd" (brinjal shaped, mushroom shaped, etc), not like the usual puzzles.

Mummy bought it from this puzzle shop at Marina Square during the June Holidays.

She saw that although I could do the 60-piece Thomas Puzzle, I lack confidence, wanting her to supervise me when I do the puzzles. so she decided to "back track" and let me do a 50-piece puzzle instead.

Some1 please get these 3D puzzles for me. =)

they're 60-piece puzzles. Mummy didn't buy them cos she thinks it may be too difficult for me. imagine the back of doraemon's head and also mickey and minnie's head... they're all in solid colours, no lines, no pictures, nothing. so she figgured it should be quite difficult.

but I think I'll love them. so cute right?

Here's a song from Mickey Mouse's clubhouse which I'm in love with.

Mummy loves it too.

阿公搬家 之 I shocked my parents

My parents and Ah-Ma were busy in Ah-Gong's new house when my Mummy suddenly found me missing.
Ha. I was here, in my Ah-Yi's room.
Mummy was amazed how I ended up here cos there's no though-road to where I was sitting.

and I was sitting on a TV!

ha. looking at the photo, Mummy thinks I look like I'm Box-Drumming (see video below if you dunno what is a box-drum).

Brain Games: 聪明转转弯

This is another Brain Game Mummy bought from Popular: 聪明转转弯
You're supposed to link the objects on one side of the card to the other side using the "tracks".
Mummy thought it was a really easy game cos the tracks are all in straight lines! That's for Level 1.
but it's not easy for me...
I love to play this game though. more than the Geometric Shapes.

See me working seriously.

Brain Games: Geometric Puzzle

Mummy bought a few Brain Games for me during the Popular Sale.
This is one of them.

These cards come in 3 levels and they're magnetic!

Did this with lotsa help from Mummy. I filled in the "blades" myself though.

I don't really care about the levels though. I just pick what I like to do.

This set of Geometric Puzzle is still a big challenge to me.

Hmm... what shall I do next?

See the Popular shopping bags in the background. heh.

Although I'm not pro at this Puzzle but it really helped to enforce the idea of geometric shapes on me.

Now when I see circles (like the opening to a drain), and squares (like the tiles on my toilet floor), I can point out to Mummy and say, "Circle", "Square", etc.

Trial class at Jitterbugs Swingapore

Mummy waited 3 months for the Trial class at Jitterbugs Swingapore (the last time they had trial class, we were in HK).

We were late and when we arrived, there was a big crowd outside the dance studio.

We managed to squeeze in but Mummy was quite surprised to see such a big crowd.

Wonder if their normal class is so big too.

It was a bit chaotic and Mummy don't see much dance elements in it.

oh well... it's for 2 to 3 years old, what do you expect, Mummy?

As for me, I'm not comfortable with the class.

I kept saying, "I want to go outside."

after about 15 minutes, Mummy finally brought me out.

Reckon I'm still too young for dance classes....

Hann's Talk: Angry and sad

I've been asking my parents to bring me to the shopping centre for the entire week.
I'll say, "I want to go shopping centre."
but they've been saying no.
Yesterday, we drove past Junction8.
"I want to go there," I said, pointing to Junction8.
Mummy said, "no, Mummy's having tuition." and papa drove away from the road leading to Junction.
Then, with my head tilted in the direction of Junction, looking outside the window of the car, I lamented,
"very angry."
pause.
"I'm very angry."
pause.
at this point, my Mummy turned her head to look at me, not believing what she heard me saying, and I continued,
"I'm so sad."
Mummy and Papa asked me why I was angry and sad, but I didn't answer them. I thought it was obvious.
the words in italics are my exact words.

Potty

Hann's Mummy said...

Warning: The picture below may cause discomfort.
Make sure you're not eating anything before scrolling down.

We didn't really make attempts to potty train Hann since his school is not doing it until he's 30months. Teacher reassured us that by then it'll be easy and fast for him to be toilet trained (sounds like a dog) because the classroom is just opposite toilet and seeing other kids do it, he will soon pick up too.

at home, we do try to ask him to use the potty just before shower and usually he doesn't want to.
Then one day, my father (Ah-gong) showed up at our house with a new potty for Hann.
He was shocked that Hann is not using the potty at 25months.

still, Hann doesn't use the potty.
I thought he thinks it a toy.

Then, today...

I left Hann alone in the living room to do something in the kitchen, as usual.
Then I sensed that he was very quiet.
I went to check and saw him with the potty below him.
think he was trying to get up.
and.. there was poo in the potty!

best part was...
he took out his diaper himself.
I was so amazed that he could
1. poo in the potty,
2. took out the diaper and sit in the potty before moving his bowels,
3. go to the potty when he wanteda poo.

silly as it may sound, but my father and I were worried that delayed potty training may cause him to reject using one.

so I was quite happy when I saw what I saw.

for a moment, I wondered how to empty the potty. haha.

then i recalled emptying my sister's potty when she was young.
(It's payback time again, YY. You can empty Hann's potty when he goes to Ah-Gong's house.)

When Hann saw me washing the potty, he said he wants to wash it too.
I allow him to after I washed it.

He then put the potty back without me teaching him how to.

He has a bit of problem with the cover though.

ha.

Mummy's proud of you, Hann. Clever boy.

60-piece puzzles

It's been a long time since I post on me doing puzzles.

actually I work on them everyday. but they're the same 2 sets of 60-pieces Thomas&Friends Puzzles Mummy bought from Yahoo Auctions.

I work on them everyday with Mummy's guidance. they're quite challenging for me and I have no confidence to do them on my own. but I still love to work on them cos I love Thomas&Friends!

Putting in the last piece.
Yesterday, I finally completed one of the puzzles all on my own.
Mummy was so happy.
but I still want her to sit and see me put every piece together even though she didn't help me.

Photo taken by Hann.
Mummy passed me the camera so that I can snap my complete work.

another photo by Hann.
She was very happy and proud of my accomplishment:
able to put 60-piece puzzle together at 25 months.

Yeah! I'm going to start on the 2nd set immediately after I'm done with the 1st.

here I go again!

Fishes

All the fishes swimming in the water,

swimming in the water.

All the fishes swimming in the water,

swimming in the water.

bubbles,

bubbles,

Splash!

That's one of the songs I learnt in school and I love to sing it.

My Ah-Gong bought 3 packs of magnetic fishes and I "stick" them onto the wrought iron window grills at his new house.
Had lotsa fun running and crawling around. the place's still very empty.
I also wanta help my Ah-Gong pack his books into the cupboards but the adults didn't allow me. said that the books are very dusty. but I really wanta help.
btw, any1 looking for a flat?
My ah-gong's selling his 5-room.
Great location: mrt's just next door
within 1km from Pei Chun Public School and CHIJ (Toa Payoh)

I love cakes

It was Janelle jiejie's birthday party.
I actually requested to wear the party hat.

Nice pool side party.

Auntie Ada was so thoughtful. She bought mini cakes for the children. One each!

I'm in love with the cake.

Finally, I can eat the cake. No mercy shown to Bob! ha.

联想力:Letter "P" swimming 2

Guess what Letter P is up to this time?

I put him into the "house" of the Letter "C".

He's in the swimming pool!
ha. that's what I told Mummy.

联想力:Letter "P" swimming

"Letter 'P' is swimming." I told Mummy.

I put the Letter "C" around Letter "P" and made it the swimming float.
My Ah Gong would have said my 联想力 (dunno what's that in English) is very good.
