网中人 + Heritage Tour of the Ecogarden, Science Centre

This is a very outdated post.
but since I've uploaded all the pictures...

26th April 2009

Man in the net
man in the net
Nemo, I'm caught in the net like you.

Mummy wanteda bring me to the Heritage Tour of the Ecogarden at Science Centre but we were early so we went for a walk around Science Centre.

We found this P.S.L.E. corner...

They have exhibits on
Gears...

Levers...
etc.

very much designed for primary school syllabus I suppose.
but it's quite boring...

We also discovered this Math corner but it was closed.
Mummy's looking forward to see what's in it.

It's time for the Ecogarden Tour...

Papa giving me a brief before we start.

The tour guide korkor gave me this "leaf".
we're supposed to find all these flowers + plants in the garden.

The korkor leading us to the rubber "plantation".

This is a rubber tree.

The korkor showing the children the rubber leaves and seeds.

I was not really interested in what the korkor has to say so we ended up in the tree house instead of joining the tour.

I'd say the tour is really educational but maybe more for older kids.

Science Centre Again: Heater

No Music class this Sat so my parents brought me to Science Centre for waterplay.

Lotsa balls and nobody today.
I was the only one playing at WaterWorks.
My papa thinks it's because we're too early.
It was around 10 am.

Cooking!

Wah!

Mummy decided to shower me after my waterplay recenly HFMD is on the rise.
the water in the shower was super cold and the stream from the showerhead was super strong.
I was brrr... so cold!
so papa was trying to warm me up with the hair dryer.

Mummy later realised that there're heaters for the shower!
but those in the ladies were off!
so Mummies and Daddies, do make sure that the heaters are on before you shower ya kids.
the switches are just below the toilet signs outside the entrances.

A must watch for me at Science Centre: Gravitram

Guess what's this?

Hint: it's part of our Digestive system.

That was the large intestine.

Mummy bought this "hanhan" digestive system for me from Science Centre.

She's been telling me about where the food goes after it goes into my mouth and been looking for a suitable and cheap digestive system chart. so here it is.

btw, how they have 4 buggies for loan at the Science Centre.

环岛追追追: 8 places in 8 hours

30 March 2009, Monday

It was supposed to be a normal school day but went I woke up in the car...

I was not at school but ....

at 1. Ridout Park MacDonalds!
I was enjoying every second at the Ridout Park, looking at the Terrapins and the frog and

my fillet-O-fish!

It was my school's shut down day and my papa took leave to take care of me while Mummy goes to school.

Me super excited when we reached Location 2!
I've been wanting to come back here for a long time...

Do you know where this is?

It's 2. the Hort Park!
"Hort Park is so Hot," I said.

I was super excited to see the playground.
But when we finally get into action, I realised that the entire playground was so hot!

I decided to chill out at the little pavilion and removed my Mickey cap to let the heat out.

We found a "greenhouse" at Hort Park.
Papa wondered why we need a green house in such a hot place,
only to realise that this green house is airconditioned!

Me cooling down in the aircon-ed exhibition house.

3. After that, we went to Raffles Marina to see Yachts.
It was quite crowded so we didn't stay long.

4. When its near to noon, we went to Steword's Riverboat.

I get to eat Cheese cake on the rocking boat.

I kept asking, "Papa, the boat is not going yet right?"
Pss... this boat is actually anchored to the marina and wont' go anywhere.

I was afraid when papa brought me to the upper decks and put me at a table.
I think it's dangerous!

I feel safer in the lower deck where it's all enclosed.
Me playing with "tracks" (yup, that's what I use them for).

5. Then we had some fun on the roof top of the Marina South Pier before it started to rain.

6. On the way out, we drove to the nearby Marina Barrage to have a look from outside (as it was raining).

7. Last, we went to Bottle Tree Park

to look at people fishing prawn, netting fishes,

and learning how to canoe.

Also, there were 2 teenagers playing pools and Papa explained to me that the white ball hit another ball to enter the hole (Pocket). After observing the korkor for a few hits, I proclaimed loudly"This korkor don't know how to play."

Finally, it's time to go and

8. Fetch Mummy!

my puppet

Thursday 19 March 2009
Mummy had to fetch me early from school and she thought she'll bring me to make puppets at PUPPETrazzi, Raffles City.

No wonder they said it's for 7 to 12 year-olds.

The working tables are all so high with no chairs.

I can hardly see what's on the table not to mention work on it.

I'll go get some help.
but the helpers there are all so busy making their own puppets, they hardly give us any attention.

Papa told Mummy that it's probably because Mummy and I don't seem to need any help.

but truely, we are quite clueless as to how to make puppets.

Mummy asked me what do I want to make for my puppet and I said Giraffe.

Mummy thought it was just nice that there were yellow scraps of corrugated board on the table and we could work with those.

Hann drawing hooves on giraffee's legs

Mummy showed me once how to draw the hooves and I drew all the other 3 hooves all by myself.

Hann drawing giraffee's legs

I even added outlines to the giraffe's legs. It was my idea, Mummy was surprised cos she didn't teach me to do it and thought the outlines made the legs look better.

When I was done drawing on the legs and neck of the giraffe, Mummy held them together with the body and asked me what is missing from the giraffe. I said, head!

and went to search for a suitable head in the junk box.

hmm...

This shall be the head!

Hann draws on a round face

me filling in giraffe's face. with no instructions from Mummy.

I told Mummy I want to draw a happy giraffe.

now we've got all the parts of the giraffe, Mummy and I didn't know how to assemble them.

we asked one helper korkor for help and he suggested using strings to attach the legs to the body and helped us drill holes.

I wanteda drill but the adults were against it. sad.

Me putting the thread into the tiny hole in the bottle aka giraffe's body.

I was getting impatient waiting for Mummy to assemble giraffe so she kept me entertained by letting me draw.

Hann draws on a square face

This was supposed to be sponge bob as suggested by the helper korkor but I want him to be Percy instead.

I went on to draw on 2 other round faces.

but Mummy thought one puppet already want her life liao so she's not going to make anymore.

I was losing insterest and she losing patience. she just wanteda complete the giraffe and go.

She'd wanteda give up but she thought it's not good to just give up in front of young children i.e. me.

Finally, my giraffe puppet was completed!

I fell in love with him the moment I saw him in his complete state.

See me bring giraffe around for a walk.

I was so in love with giraffe, I didn't wanta leave him there with the other puppets. I wanta bring him home.

now Mummy is considering to bring me and giraffe for the Puppet Parade on Sunday.

Here's the invitation:
