Verner Panton @ National Museum

We're off to Verner Panton – The collected works.

Verner Panton is a famous Danish designer and architect.
(Both jobs Mummy once wanted to do.)

If you don't know Verner Panton, I think you should at least know this chair -

the Panton Chair.
Yup. He's the designer.

besides the Panton Chair, Verner Panton also designed various interesting and colourful chairs.

"Sitting should also be fun - like playing - an exciting experience." said Panton.

besides chairs, he also designs furniture systems,

and Spaces.

We're going to see one of the special Space...

Phantasy Landscape: Visiona 2.

Can't really capture the Phantasy Landscape on our compact camera.

It looks like just a sea of red. Actually it's made up of the colours of the Rainbow.

We spend such a long time inside, Mummy almost wanteda faint.

The red is just too much for her eyes and I suppose there's lack of oxygen too.

Again, I had so much fun I didn't wanta go, if not for Mummy threatening to leave w/o me.

It appears to us, Verner Panton loves to use colours and is a colourful person.

Mummy wonders why the lighting in the exhibition is so dark and gloomy, atmosphere solemn and quiet, intolerable to any noise or sound of joy made by children.

it's nothing like what Panton says, "... make their surrondings more exciting."

Mummy was constantly worried about me making too much noise or my running around will be a nuisance.

To me, it's just a dark but colourful playground with lovely furniture and works of art.

Ah... the outside's a breath of fresh air.

They've this interactive corner outside the exhibition hall for children to learn about colours and shapes.

"aircons" is what I call these coloured cushion blocks.

You can line them up this way...

to make a bed.

or that way...

to make a "train" track.

Shapes and Rubber bands?

I think this is a rectangle.

It really trains my finger and hand muscles.

Mummy's really impressed by Verner Panton, nonetheless. and wish she has talents like his.
Or maybe I'll have talents like his?
we'll see...

Rainbow

Since my papa got cable tv for our house, i've been watching a lot of tv, to my mummy's dismay.
but it was good for me cos I was not interested in anything earlier on, not even my favourite videos.

Playhouse Disney got me up and out of my bed.

Mummy's not happy with me watching so much tv though.
but at least the programmes are educational and non-violent.

Mummy decided that she should do some "follow-up" on the programmes I've watched - opportunity teaching kinda thing.

It was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the episode Mickey's Color Adventure.
Colours start draining from the clubhouse, and the gang search for objects of each color of the rainbow to feed into the rainbow colour machine.

Mummy decided to teach me the order of the colors of the rainbow using the song in the episode: Red - Orange - Yellow. Green - Blue - Purple.
and let me paint a rainbow.
I love painting!

Mummy also sang a chinese song about Rainbow which she used to help her remember the order of the colors of the rainbow when she was young:
彩虹 彩虹 天边一条彩虹
红橙黄绿蓝 真美丽
加上紫色 更美丽

and she wonders why all these rainbow songs are one color short.

before i start painting my rainbow, we read a story about Rainbow - Noah and the Ark and looked at different pictures of the rainbow.

Mind you, not all drawn pictures of the rainbow has the correct order of the colors, even the rainbow color collector in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is of the opposite order.

We prayed and thanked God for making the rainbow, colours and for his promise.

it was raining outside that day.
Mummy said, "let's see if there's a rainbow later."
Hann held the painting of his rainbow up towards the sky and said, "There!"

somehow the brouche of the Verner Panton Exhibition dropped out and in was so in line with what we had learnt for the day. we discussed about how Verner Panton used colours.

"Colour planning is of utmost importance …
I myself normally work with parallel colours
whose tones follow consecutively according to
the order of the spectrum. In this way, I can
control the character of the room in terms of
warmth and coolness and thereby create the
desired atmosphere.” ~Verner Panton

Korkors and jiejies who are taking physics or took physics before, how do you remember the order of the colours of the rainbow?

Van Gogh and Sunflowers

I now go to my auntie doctor twice a week.
and the highlight of the visits is visit to the Science Centre after/before that.

This time, we went to the Omni Theatre to watch

"Van Gogh - brush with genius"

I sat thru' the 40 min show!
though at about the 30th min, I said, "I don't like so take so long."

The film's about Van Gogh's life and works.
You can see the beautiful paintings and the inspiration behind them.

Strangely, we dont' recall seeing this famous "The SunFlowers" in the show.
You can see some replicas of Van Gogh's painting outside the Theatre.

This was about 2 weeks ago and I started eating quite a lot.
Here's me eating a potato bun after the film.
I liked it at first but it was too peppery.
I can't take spicy stuff.
Mummy told like that Papa likes potato so I decided to buy one for him next time.

That evening when we went home,
we saw sunflowers on mummy's favourite (at that moment) drama - 肥田喜事 and also in a book I've borrowed from the library.

Mummy's excited about the follow up plans she had for me the next day.

1st she brought me to the nursery to look at flowers and plants.

but I wanteda go home soon after we reached.

Mummy managed to persuade me to go and get the sunflowers before going home.
See... the sunflowers are taller than me!
From this photo, can see that I was still super thin.

Mummy took out two vases for me to choose.
Guess which was my choice?

I chose the blue vase and Mummy said it was a good choice because Van Gogh likes to use complementary colours and blue is the opposite color of yellow.
Mummy also pointed out that this is very different from Verner Panton who likes to use parallel colors (colors next to each other on the spectrum).

Next, we went to the library to read more about Vincent Van Gogh and his paintings.
There are a lot of books about Van Gogh in the library which are written for children.
When Mummy read me the 1st book about Van Gogh's life, I had this solemn look on my face, Mummy was worried that I'm sadden by Van Gogh's tragic life.

We also discussed about the paintings.
my favourite is The Starry Night.
Reckon it's because I like stars and blue.

Mummy's favourite is Starry Night over the Rhone.
She loves how Van Gogh did the reflections in the water.

Next, I went on to make my own sunflower painting.
More inspired by 肥田喜事than Vincent Van Gogh.

I chose Green for my sky and blue for the grass.
Ha. don't ask me why.
Mummy allows me to decide what colours I want to use every time.
